Sara Haba became the first woman, who reached the holy city of Mecca on a bicycle. She traveled to Saudi Arabia crossing all the distances and passing all the difficulties to perform a pilgrimage, the journey was taken 53 days.
She traveled across the desert into Egypt and Sudan, and that takes for her weeks to end. Mostly she traveled alone, as well as was cycling by herself. Furthermore, Sarah Haba has documented his journey using the hashtag #cyclingtomecca.
As Haba named her bicycle as ‘Merzouga’, which can be interpreted in Arabic meaning as ” the grace and blessing “.
She wrote in her Instagram that “I was afraid to be stopped at some point during my journey. I didn’t know if my body will follow my well and accept all that I was imposing to it “.
In addition to that, Haba was troubled that she wouldn’t be allowed to enter the sacred city as she was traveling by herself, but she did not let her fear which was inside her heart to stop her, so she decided to continue her path anyhow.
She, also added: “In Saudi Arabia, where the distance and difficulty were really small compare to what I went through. I was tensed before reaching Mecca, as I really didn’t know if I would be allowed to enter the city, cycling by myself”.
Sarah who is considered as a brave woman passing through all the difficulties to perform the pilgrimage, as well as she received a lot of requesting Emails and messages from the people requesting her to make dua for them .”In response, she thanked them all.”
As she said: “A special thanks to each one who has crossed my way, smiled to me, shown and guided me the way, filled my bottle with water, offered me a fruit and food, shared their home with me, presented me to their family and friends, cycling with me even 10km cried with me and made me part of their life.”
She wrote online: “I didn’t expect anything of all that happened.” She also wrote:” I kept making dua for each one of you, I was holding a list of names tightly and going through the crowd, but it will never be enough. Hopped the life to give me the second chance to give back to the universe.”
Correspondingly, she met her brother in Makkah who came from France and preformed Umrah
Sara Haba ended by saying: “I wouldn’t have made it without each of you. You made it guys.”
